Renelyn Quinicot is a queer Filipina artist and movement and meditation guide, born and raised as a settler to Tkaronto. Whether through her relational-art practice, or body-mind facilitation, her work centres in community, and a compassionate, curious self-study as a mediator for connection to all. She integrates her studies in arts and curation in the ways she holds space as a meditation and mindful movement teacher. She is trained to offer Kundalini Yoga and breathwork, as well as Fusion styles that combine Pilates, Yoga stretches and aerobic dance to encourage PLAY as an act of resilience, and an exploration of the body as a carrier of lineage and story. She is currently studying with New Leaf Foundation to inform her teaching with more of a social justice-focused and trauma-aware lens.

A FUN FACT ABOUT ME IS:

used to back up dance! for a few pals. nothing serious, but definitely showed me how much i love to MOVE and witness that encourage OTHERS to move!! I never took dance classes professionally, but ocassionally i take Vogueing and Whacking/ Waacking or House Dance classes. Those three carry so much poltiical history that you can FEEL in the gestures and groove, the music of each of those dance cultures LIGHTS ME UPPP like nothing else can too. Mmmm.. I also used to DJ! Never got to good at mixing bc I am a perfectionist, but again, lighting up a room with music and encouraging people to get out of their heads and into their bodies is pureeee JOY for me!

MY GO-TO COMFORT FOOD IS:

FAVOURITE FREE WAY TO UNWIND IS:

walks in the forest, or by the water, stare at the moon, Kundalini Meditation, reading a book, acupuncture when i can... DANCING!..at home KARAOKE!

WHEN I NEED TO CRY I…

stuff my face in a pillow and imagine embodying a younger self, allowing my ma to comfort me.


I AM CURRENTLY BINGE WATCHING:

merpppppppp... nothing currently! trying to finish a bunch of books i ambitiously bought at the beginning of quarantine!

WHEN I’M NOT GBF-ING I AM:

I am an educator to kindergarten kids in a small alternative playschool! Wee ones are ancient ancestors with so much to teach us. I am really grateful for their presence in my life. I also teaching Kundalini Yoga, and organize art events for storytelling and care! my community work originally was in the arts and curation before I was a movement teacher. So if I am not taking or teaching classes, I am also finding art shows!


IF I COULD HAVE A SUPER POWER, I WOULD CHOOSE… BECAUSE…

to abolish the police, and to implement Mutual Aid communal systems of care in cities, and to protect and preserve the waters and lands ...I can go on....
